Design and Layout - I got the design of my website from a basic news site with a large main title, with linked tabs below, and the content below that.
The homepage has the main articles from the two completed pages, and the layout of the content on all pages are a list of articles under a title with each article being represented with an image or video and the information underneath in text. I think this layout is effective because having all information split into sections and read downwards is the easiest way to follow all the information without getting lost in it all.
Colour Schemes and Imagery - I used a clear white background for the page as a detailed background may obstruct or distract from the information on the page, and I used red in the title's "Z" because red is a colour associated with urgency as seen in the news. This is effective because the when you arrive on the homepage the first thing your eyes dart to is the big red "Z" in the title, causing you to then read the rest of the title. I also used yellow to for the subtitle because yellow is a positive colour associated with happiness which will hopefully put readers in a good mood before moving on to the news.
For my use of text I have tried to use professional language that is easy to understand along with some colloquialisms that add a sort of comedic charm to the articles which keeps the readers invested. The font is a basic font that is easy to read and I have used a large red character in each title in order to draw attention to the articles, while making them easy to find at the same time.
The Indent - I did not include an indent in my clips because I didn't have the time.
The Video Content - I have included quite a lot of videos in my website and they all fulfil their primary purpose on the site. The trailer videos on the news page give you visuals on the games I have reported on and some that I didn't write about, and the gameplay videos on the E-sports page do a fine job of entertaining the audiences that would watch them (even if my own captured footage was a bit mediocre).
Meeting my Audiences needs - From what I've included I believe I have catered to my audience quite well judging by what I documented in my audience research. I have added memes for comedic affect, used competitive E-sport game footage, games for every mainstream console type, a page for video submissions, and information on non-mainstream games like foreign or anime games.
Planning - I think my planning and scheduling could have gone a lot better, I found out about the preliminary project a few days late and I was ill for a few days which interfered with my schedule, my planning was rushed, and I had very little time to collect my own original footage for my gameplay.
However I can't blame anyone but myself for this lack of preparation, so it would be in my best interests to try to get a head start on the project and/or work through sick days in order to get the footage I want for my site next time a task like this comes around.
The Main Objective from the Brief - For what I have been asked to do I believe I have covered everything that has been asked of me but I think it can be done much better. Everything from the titles, to layouts, to content, can all be improved to an AS level standard. I think if I had to rank myself out of 10 I would say I'm a 5 as the overall quality and quantity of my work can be beefed up and improved.
